One Little Sin by L. Carlyle

Per a recommendation from, someone who I can't remember at the moment, I decided to read Liz Carlyle's One Little Sin. It's the first novel in her Little trilogy and introduces us to Esme & Alasdair. This is the type of novels I was raised on believe it or not, so I actually found it to be quite a good read. Historical romances can be more than trashy novels (unfortunately, they do have that reputation to some people), but they are the perfect getaway for someone who is looking for a happy ever after.

I have a more detailed review posted up at my blog.

Date Me, Baby, One More Time by S. Rowe

For my fourth novel, I read Date Me, Baby, One More Time by Stephanie Rowe. The novel was good, but I definitely liked her second novel, Must Love Dragons more.

We’re introduced to Justine Bennett, the Guardian of the Goblet of Eternal Youth, and Derek LaValle, who is cursed to die on his 32nd birthday. His only solution…kill the guardian and the curse will be lifted.

One Foot in the Grave by J. Frost

One Foot in the Grave had me captivated from the first chapter and it didn't let go until I finished it four hours later. Seriously people, if you haven't read Halfway to the Grave, then go out and get it so you can read this novel. Don't wait for the library to get it in for you, go buy it. NOW! Jeaniene Frost was one of the greatest impulse buys I've ever had and I would fanatically recommend her to anyone else.

Honestly, I love this series. I think I'm going to unpack Halfway to the Grave, just so I can read both of these novels again, back to back.

Lean Mean Thirteen by J. Evanovich

In anticipation for Fearless Fourteen, which is being released in June, and for my numbers challenge, I re-read Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich. I have already written up a review on this novel, so I'm not going to do another one. However, I will say that this series never gets old. It's easy to go back and reread each of the books and even if you don't remember what has happened previously, it's not a big deal. You can easily read them out of order and not really miss anything.

The Dark One by R. Thompson

I ended up switching one of my picks for The Dark One by Ronda Thompson when I heard about her death. There is a more detailed review at my site, but here's something....

Overall, the story was good. The characters were engaging and they made you want to continue reading. I've been in a reading slump for the past couple of weeks, but I never felt like I wanted to put the book down. I started this book last night and I finished it within a day. I probably won't go out and buy these books, but I will be checking out the rest of the series from my library.

Eleven on Top by J. Evanovich (AudioBook)

It wasn't one of my 5 that I was going to read, but I picked up a copy of the audio book for Janet Evanovich's Eleven on Top. I've posted a review on my site.

Jackie's Five

Here are my 5 picks for the challenge. I don't have any alternates yet since I'm having trouble finding interesting books in the Urban Fantasy/Fantasy genre. If anyone can recommend anything, from any genre, I'm all ears.

  2. One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
  3. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
  4. Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich
  5. The Fairy Godmother (tales of the 500 kingdoms) by Mercedes Lackey Changed to: The Dark One by Ronda Thompson
